Wingate Park, Brooklyn was on fire last night with Kreyol Fest! The food, performances, and GORGEOUS BEIHIND HAITIAN MEN made my Sunday afternoon/night enjoyable. 

Major shoutout goes to my aunt Carine and her non-profit organization Diaspora Community Services  with their VIP section. Tickets ranged from 30 - 100 bucks and 100% of the profit went to benefit  Diaspora Community Services’s health clinic; Centre Medico Social de Port Au Prince!

The kompa was on POINT. If you didn’t grab somebody to dance with last night your behind might as well have not been there. CARIMI TORE IT UP! Djakout Musik where playing STRAIGHT HITS. I fell upon a new band named ‘Cruz La’ and they’re slowly becoming a favorite in my book. There’s NOTHING like a live band! -

Did I mention that PRESIDENT MICHEL MARTELLY MADE A SUPRISE GUEST VISIT?!?!!!! Not only was he preaching about the current state of Haiti but my man was GETTING down AND started to SING! (Do remember he was known as Sweer Mikey FIRST!!)

One thing I must say we as Haitians need to work on is TIME MANAGEMENT. For example most of us know what CP time is. Haitian time is 3-4 hrs AFTER CP time. Between the breaks of each set as well as artist not showing up the time they’re suppose to perform; the last act couldn’t even perform! -____________-

No the highlight of my night wasn’t meeting MICKAEL and RICHARD *AHEM* of CARIMI , OR helping check the artists in, OR seeing the unity of my Haitian people enjoying themselves! It was the fact I spent in with my family. I don’t think I EVER saw my mom enjoy herself the way she did like last night. Same for my aunts and cousins. :-)
